Tracks Takes Me Back to Reading About the Music I Love
I'm a mid-40s former rocker, and I'd given up on music magazines. Rolling Stones sold out to the People format long ago, and I hadn't found a new answer. But now comes Tracks, and I feel I've been led back home: the best authors writing on the best music and musicians. Thanks to all of you who decided to give it a shot - you definitely hit the mark with this fabulous first issue. I've subscribed, and I highly recommend Tracks to all lovers of classic and cutting edge, sophisticated rock.
I LOVE this magazine!
I'm so glad I came across this new music magazine the other day. It's just what I've been looking for!
As it says, this is all about "music built to last". No Rolling Stone-styled cheesecake shots or trendy fashion spreads here. No Britney, J. Lo, or Christina (but they did give Mandy Moore's "Coverage" album a good review). Great "spotlight review" of the Dolly Parton tribute CD, too. One of my favorite articles is the interview with Cassandra Wilson by USA Today critic Elysa Gardner, whose work I have been reading and enjoying for years. As usual, Gardner is right on the money when she describes Cassandra as "truly a singer's singer".
I've already sent in for my subscription to "Tracks", and hope to be enjoying it for years to come!
Great Fresh Publication
This is by far the most interesting music title in the market today. Great reviews, and awesome photos (I love the Sting cover shot, it is so real and intimate) All the edit is very intersting. Even the ads serve as editorial - there are so many interesting artists I didn't know about. And the best part is that it's both old and new music! This magazine is all about music, no gadgets, video games, or fashion spreads. I've already read it cover to cover and plan on keeping it for reference.
